The Bay Horse, at Fulford, found favour with us all! The food is plentiful, reasonably priced, good quality and a nice varied menu.
Highly recommended!
A nice, light room, at the rear of the pub, provided ample comfortable seating, and a back door provided a convenient exit for the smokers to disappear, but still be 'in touch.'

The names in blue are local visitors, all Yorksgen listers, who joined us just for this event.
"Speakers Day" - Some of them look a bit fed up,
but they were waiting for the talks to begin!

Chris Willott's talk, "What Our Ancestors Ate" was a great success, and was followed by a lunch comprising lots of the foods
that Chris had talked about:
Salad leaves, Yorkshire Ham, Rye Bread, Cottage loaves, Wensleydale Cheese, pickled onions, tomatoes, stuffed dates, ginger beer, light beer, real lemonade and, if we were not already full up
...... Yorkshire Parkin!*

*Parkin (Picture below) is a gingerbread loaf,
made with treacle and oatmeal. It is very filling! Sustaining - it certainly must have been
designed to fill hungry people!
This one was specially made for us by the baker at Hovingham Bakery, who has recently won an award, "Craftsman Baker of the Year 2008"

(I witnessed several chunks of Parkin being washed down with coffee, by Colin, back at House K)

aka one of "Your Fair Ladies" organisers of the
Family History Fairs at Pudsey, Malton, Scarborough and Hull

Jackie was the first speaker in the afternoon with a talk entitled "Chasing Million Eyres - From Leeds to Kamschatka"

Sitting on Brenda's left were Jocelyn Appleyard and Yvonne Clarke, (too close to me to fit in the frame)

Ahhh..... if only our ancestors could see us now!
